Bio
“That’s what I like about animation. It’s all about fun!”
Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Andre Kerry has always had a passion for art. His love for drawing emerged at the age of seven, when a teacher first took notice of his sketches. Impressed, that teacher requested that he and his twin brother be placed into a special visual art class for gifted students. “It was a fun experience” Andre recollects about the class, “Plus I got to skip some of my other classes which I didn’t liked too much”. In that art class, Andre was trained traditionally to draw portraits by hand at a very early age, however he still preferred to sketch on the side for fun. Andre describes himself as having a vivid, wild imagination, pulling most of his ideas and original sketches from a magic hat in the back of his mind. “That’s what I like about animation.” he jokes, “It’s all about fun!”
As an active cartoon viewer, Andre loves the artworks of Bruce Timm (Producer, Batman: The Animation series) which introduced him to the fantasy world of comic books, a place where he gathered some of his inspirations for his future artwork. Andre is also a fan of the Walt Disney animated classics. Mentioning his favorite as 1981′s “The Fox and the Hound”.
Today, Andre is currently attending the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale in Florida where he is concentrating on pursuing a bachelor degree in illustration. After college, Andre hopes to work for a major animation studio here in the United States, “It Doesn’t matter, (where I work) as long as I’m in the industry!” he exclaims. Talented, gifted and always animated himself, we can imagine Andre being happy wherever he is, doing what he loves to do best.
When not drawing, Andre likes to play video games, watch movies and, of course, picking up that pen throughout the day to draw one more time!
